Blog Story #6
Okay, so here is the most recent and my personal favorite story. I hope that you enjoy it.
I know this little kid. He lives in one of the apartments downstairs from my apartment. Would you like to know how I got to know him? Well, I'm about to tall you.
I came home from a long, hard day on a construction site. I was covered with sweat and all my bones were achy. I stumbled through my apartment door. Shedding my toolbox, my jacket, and my hat at the doorway, I made a beeline for the bathroom. I was dreaming of a nice, refreshing, hot shower. So I was definitely not prepared for what I saw next. I saw my bathtub full of apartment-down-the-stairs little boy. Now the least thing that I would expect in my bathtub is some strange little boy. He had all his clothes on, all his muddy clothes on. I make a choking sound as I viewed the mess before me. How did this boy get in here? Why did he come in here? How do I get him out? I ended up drying the frustratingly silent kid, clothes and all, and escorting him out my front door. I shut the door behind him, locking it all the way. I then spent the next half hour cleaning the previously unseen trail of mud of my carpets. Then I moved into the bathroom to start cleanup. Hardly had I started through the door when I saw them floating in my bathtub. Worms. In my bathtub. I love worms. Just not in my bathtub. They were dead, of course, but worms are worms. These worms belonged outside, not in my bathtub. I drained the tub and spent a long time scrubbing out the filth in the bathtub. I took my nice shower, all the while thinking about the strange boy and what he was did to my bathtub. First, I thought that the little boy got all that dirt on him spying. He was a spy. But wait, what was he doing in my bathtub? Spying? I don't think so. I resolved to find out what he was doing in my bathtub. I trudged downstairs after my shower and asked around until I found out where he lived. I went to the door next to his, in order to interrogate his neighbor. I rapped on the door. It was opened a few minutes later by an old man in his pajamas. At 4:00 in the afternoon. I began immediately.
"Hello sir. May I ask you some extremely personal and obnoxiously intruding questions?"
I received a blank stare in response. I started to repeat myself but he held up a hand to silence him. I was confused because he spoke not a word. He merely motioned me inside his apartment, with a crooked finger. I was a bit hesitant as I stepped inside. No sooner was I inside, than the man shut the door behind me and locked it with a "click". I thought, "This is it. I'm going to die. At least I'll die clean." But the old man didn't go at me right away. The old man shuffled into another room. I followed him every nerve was wide awake. If someone had poked me right then, I would have flipped out. The old man leaned over a small table. On the table was a glass. In the glass were Mr. Pajama's teeth. Everything came together. He didn't talk because he wasn't wearing his teeth. I allowed myself to relax a bit. I questioned him again, telling him what had happened. He inserted his teeth with a discomforting "squelch". Then he explained it all.
"That little boy next door is the apartment plumber's son. He loves playing in mud and loves taking baths. He was in your apartment's bathtub because he clogged up his tub's drain with all the dirty baths that he took. His dad had a key ring that he uses to fix pipes and what-not when he goes into apartments. The little kid probably got a hold of that key ring and used it to get into your apartment. Satisfied?"
I thanked the old man and left. In order to have my bathtub to myself I helped pay for the drain in the little boy's bathtub.Worms belong in dirt. Not in my bathtub.
I hope that you enjoyed this. I certainly enjoyed writing it. My next two stories will probably be posted on Saturday. Have a great day, everyone!
